Kumo links your Microsoft Windows account to cloud storage provided by Microsoft. Once Kumo is setup, cloud-based files are visible on the Windows desktop like files in other drives. There is a separate drive icon for each cloud-storage provider, so if you link them, there will be a drive icon labeled 'Box', 'Google', 'OneDrive', etc. Files can then be copied, edited, and deleted from these drive icons in the usual Windows way. Apple Macintosh may have the same capabilities soon, because an application is being developed for that platform.
Configuration is not a daily activity. It only needs to be done once then cloud-storage drives can be mounted on your computer. At other visits to the Kumo Portal, access can be granted or removed from cloud storage. If your cloud storage requirements never change, you need not log in to the Kumo Portal again after an initial configuration.
Check Prerequisites
Check with technical support staff to verify that the Kumo Client is installed and that your computer is a Microsoft Active Directory member.
Visit the Kumo Portal
The Kumo setup is done entirely on the Web. It can involve a number of web sites, yet the primary one is the Kumo Portal. The Portal keeps records of your Windows account and the cloud storage to which you granted the account access. Visit the Kumo Portal reserved for the School of Education by pointing a web browser at the 'https://kumo.education.wisc.edu' web address. Click the 'Login' button, then type your 'SoE-AD' Windows account and password to continue.

Set Preferences for Cloud Storage
After a successful login, a list of available storage providers appears in the Kumo Portal. The School of Education prepared three storage providers: 'Box', 'Google Drive', and 'OneDrive for Business'. These three are officially supported by the University. The fourth option, 'File Shares', can be used to link network drives hosted by the School, duplicates tools bundled with Windows, and can safely be ignored. To link your Windows account, click the downward arrow beside the 'OneDrive for Business' label.
Authorize Access to Cloud Storage
Clicking the arrow reveals details about 'OneDrive for Business' and a button to authorize access. Review the description and any 'terms of use'. When ready, click the 'Authorize' button to continue.
Login to Cloud Storage
When prompted, type your campus WiscMail address and password to 'Sign in' to Microsoft. Then, click the 'Work or school account' link.
Login to Campus
Mura's Filter Meister Cloud 2.2
Type your UW NetID and password in the campus login window.
Confirm Storage is Enabled
Microsoft immediately redirects the browser back to the Kumo Portal. After returning to the Kumo Portal, there will be a green check-mark beside the 'OneDrive for Business' label to indicate your Windows account is authorized to access this cloud storage. When you next login to Windows, a drive icon labeled 'OneDrive' will appear in the computer.
Repeat or Exit
If you want to enable another storage provider, follow the links at the end of this document. Otherwise, quit the web browser to safely log out. Whenever you log in to a Windows computer with your SoE-AD account, your cloud storage will be mapped as a drive.
